This week’s theme is Growth.

Thanks to Shelley from At Home in Rome and Expat Traveller, I have discovered the Photo Scavenger Hunt which I think is a great idea!

When I thought about this week’s theme of “Growth,” the obvious images of plants and trees came immediately to my mind. In fact, I had several of them earmarked for this post.

But then I remembered this other picture - it’s a picture of my oldest friend (not in age, in years of friendship) in Italy who lives in Arezzo, in the Tuscany region. She let me take a picture of her with her daughter, her mother and her grandmother. 4 generations.

While it’s a feat in itself, it is even more amazing to me since I never even met a set of my grandparents as they died before I was born, and I don’t have any grandparents alive now.

Growth.

I like this picture. I met my last remaining grandma when I was born, but she died when I was 11 months. I don’t remember her, but I hear a lot about her.

My grandpa, I was close to, he died when I was 15. I always admire and envy how other people seem to take for granted their grandparents. I would have liked my grandparents to met my kids.

My photo hunt is up too, here it is!

Welcome to the Photo Scavenger Hunt! :) That’s a great picture. :) One of my friends has a similar photo - him, his son, his dad, and his grandmother. Totally amazing to me, since all of my great-grandparents had passed away long before I came along, and only my mom’s mom was around when I was growing up - she passed away when I was 18, whereas my other grandparents were all dead by the time I was 8.

Once again, welcome. :) My photos are up. Have a good weekend. :)

So, you caught the bug? Good thing too, because I love, love, love your photos and can’t wait to see what you’ll be dishing up on Saturdays.
This is a beautiful photo. I too have been so struck by the generations here and how families remain so close, and also by how healthy so many of the older people are. Their lifestyle is so community and family-centered and I think this helps them immensely as they grow into old age.
