Besides the prices, which were quite high for Gap but not that bad for Italy clothing prices, I saw something that made me throw up in my mouth a bit.

Behold, the worst possible fashion fusion between Italian and American fahion, brought to you by famous Italian designer Valentino. I myself was excited to see his collection, and the atmosphere was far different from those crowds at H&M for Lanvin, but positive.

But then I saw this.

Missed the mark by a kilometro, dear signore. A ruffled gray hoodie sweatshirt? Two elements that before now have never been put together in quite such a horrifying way. They never knew of the other’s existence until now, and they were better for it, much like spandex and bicyclists once were.

A ruffle *ahem* asymmetric ruffle, which is so much more avant-garde in 2010, completes the look of what I can only call the Hoodie Mullet: serious hoodie sweatshirt on top and party ruffle on the bottom.

Their fusion results in a log curve of disappointment and revulsion towards the fashion world. Don’t worry, this sweatshirt will be heading out of Italy and your way soon, and not in the form of imitations. I wouldn’t be surprised if Wal-Mart bought the excess stock and sold it directly.

Updated to add: Valentino is selling out in “minutes” across Europe, apparently. I’ll assure you, a week after the Milan store opened, his collection was still to be found.

Updated to add: An Italian girlfriend of mine told me “Valentino for Gap is kinda schifezza.” (disgusting/gross).
