Join up!<\/li>\n<li>[<strong>Contact Me<\/strong>] If you used my Contact form on the sidebar in the past few months, please note that I don&#8217;t think it was working &#8211; I have now listed an email address on the Contact page to use instead. <strong>If you sent something and received no answer, please send it again!<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This morning when I walked the short distance from my house to the underground station and big, wet, white flakes landed on me and quickly melted.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The first snow of the year! <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The flakes didn&#8217;t last long, since things have been so warm lately.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a title=\"Photo Sharing\" href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/msadventuresinitaly\/368447936\/\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/farm1.static.flickr.com\/112\/368447936_7bbfe6cf2f.jpg?resize=375%2C500\" alt=\"The Duomo in Winter\" width=\"375\" height=\"500\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>My <a href=\"http:\/\/forecastfox.mozdev.org\/\">forecast plugin for Firefox<\/a> says that today in Milan it will be &#8220;<strong>colder, cloudy, then snow<\/strong>&#8221; which has been the prediction for the past week or so. Yet tomorrow the temperature starts creeping back up to 9 degrees Celsius by the weekend.<\/p>\n<p>It seems that I, who often lament about the not-optimal weather in Milan, wants it to get cold! For a while it was amusing but now it&#8217;s just confusing. Yesterday the coffee machine at work was broken so I walked to the bar on the corner (infinitely better coffee) in only a light zip-up hoodie.<\/p>\n<p>But I do want it to get cold. I know that getting colder is the only way we&#8217;re sure it will then get hotter. Every day that it stays warm reminds me that we still have a whole season of cold ahead of us.<\/p>\n<p>Many people are starting to compare this year to 2003, where a mild winter lead to an <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/2003_European_heat_wave\">insanely hot summer<\/a>. That happened to be the summer I moved to Italy. It wasn&#8217;t much fun, but at least now I have an air-conditioned office to run to during the summer months.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Does anyone else want winter to behave? Are we doomed for a hot summer?
