I thought that there was something that is truly annoying<\/strong>that I should really be addressing this Saturday.<\/p>\n

Hunger<\/strong>. Starvation. Dying<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

In a world where we have the Hummer, Extra Super Size meals and Paris Hilton<\/strong>, people are dying every day of hunger.<\/p>\n

Every five seconds a child dies because she or he is hungry.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

I’m working with a Menu for Hope<\/a> to raise money for the United Nations World Food Programme<\/a><\/strong>. While it may seem a bit removed from my daily life, the WFP is actually closer than you think because they are based in Rome. When I was living in Rome, I even had a few friends working for the FAO (Food & Agriculture Organization of the United Nations).<\/p>\n

852 million people do not have enough to eat – more than the populations of USA, Canada and the European Union<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

To me, there’s nothing more annoying<\/strong> than people dying of starvation. And ridiculous. It’s incredible to believe that we are still so lopsided in a world of have and have-nots. I count myself very lucky, and with this opportunity I feel it’s my duty to do what I can in order to help even-up this problem.<\/p>\n

Hunger & malnutrition are the number one risk to global health killing more people than AIDS, malaria & TB combined<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

The Menu for Hope has already raised over $18,000 this week, but it’s not enough. It’s not enough when you realize how many people are reading about it and doing nothing. You only have until December 22nd to donate. Details about my prize here<\/a> (code EU15).<\/p>\n

The average daily expenditure on food in the developed world is US$10. WFP food rations cost 29 cents\/day<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

By using your “daily expenditure” of food, and buying one Menu for Hope raffle ticket, you could help WFP feed someone for OVER A MONTH<\/strong>!!<\/p>\n
