The first is "The Eyre Affair," and the fifth one just came out (I'm halfway through it). They're laugh-out-loud funny (which could be a hazard if you're in public), and you don't have to have read much literature to get the jokes. It helps, I think, and I'm sure there are many jokes I'm missing, but most of them are just plain funny no matter what other reading you've done in your life. Highly recommended.
