My favorite item in the spice bazaar is the Kargı Tulumu, cheese that is aged inside a goat skin. when it is disrobed the aroma is...potent.

Hi,
It's nice to hear that you enjoyed your trip to Istanbul. Those sugars are called cevizli sucuk (means walnut sausage) or orcik or köme. It is made with unfermented grape-juice, semolina, starch and walnut as far as I know.
They are delicious. Once you start eating you can not stop...

A Turkish friend of mine just told me that those long sugary rope-like confections are called Tatli Sucuk or Cevizli Sucuk in Turkish. I've had the brown gelatinous confection shown in that same picture but on the left side many times before as it is also a specialty in Cyprus and I have friends with family there who visit often.

Beautiful pics.

Thank you thank you thank you for posting that picture of antep tatli. Every year at work, a Syrian client gives us the most interesting pastries/sweets for Christmas, and this year we got antep tatli, which we inhaled, but did not know what they were called.

I wish I had some right now!
