Yesterday I got sent to the principal’s office. I mean, the president’s office. Some very important services were having problems and our clients were very upset. (Does this sound like I’m explaining to a small child?) Because my boss was out of the office, the responsibility and questions came to me.

Our account manager crooked his finger at me, and said, “Can you come with me for a minute?” Everyone in my work room was oddly quiet and staring intently at their screens. No one made eye contact as I left the room. It felt just like high school.

When I entered the room, the President was on the phone with my colleague. He threw around a lot of “cazzo” and “non mi frega niente” (bad things). The glass walls of his “office” didn’t contain all the noise and I saw everyone looking over at us. I am ashamed to say that my face flamed red the whole time I was in there (this happens often when I am embarassed - poker face I have not!). He didn’t yell at me like he did the others, but I think it might have been a “don’t kick the dog” kind of sympathy, which I’m not sure is a good thing.

Anyway, today went much better. I attended a conference call in English where my favorite excuse was “I didn’t invent the internet.”

Something I’m keeping my eye on. Do you remember the book, Where the Wild Things Are? Well, they’re making it into a movie.

They = Spike Jonze and Dave Eggers (author, A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius is very good). More info here.

Interesting new party trick - this video of making designs with sand. It’s the kind of thing I could see crowds gathering around to see on the streets of SF. If you could find an overhead projector & plug. And a projection screen. Not for starving artists. I have to say the recurring Adam & Eve images combined with the majestic music were a bit disturbing, though.

I’m definitely going to make a Personal Annual Report. Great idea!

Don’t just sit there, do some Fun things with your ipod. On second thought, put your ipod away or you might get mugged.
